Question #153

Do you have a Tattoo?? If so ... what and where is it? If not ... have you considered getting one?

No and no . . . I remember hearing someone say once that tattoos are "poor man's art, art for the masses who cannot understand real art." I thought that was a very arrogant and condescending thing to say, but I still do not want a tattoo.

No .... I don't have any tattoos and I have never really wanted a tattoo. I have nothing against tattoos ... just never wanted one ...

I've also never really wanted anything else pierced, except for my ears.

I guess I am pretty boring!

No I don't. I have at time toyed with the idea of getting a tiny (really tiny) heart, rose, or butterfly where it would not be readibly visible. But when my son started talking about getting one and I talked him out of it, I realized that it was a bit of a double standard! I couldn't see him getting his body permanently scarred and inked after I had spent a year of his infancy, lovingly rubbing baby lotion over that tiny body and then spent all that money later on in adolesence on Pro-Activ and then Non-Steroidal Creams when he got a rash here or there from Judo.Plus, a wrinkled heart,a wilted rose or a butterfly with collapsed wings is just not attractive! LOL

Yep, just got my first one last November. OOO that sounds like I may get another.

I never really thought I would get one but when I went to St Petes with my South Beach gals, one of the gals was going to get one the last day and suddenly I just wanted one sooo bad. It is my little banner to remember I was brave and flew without dh. I traveled with a friend. I'm all grown up! It was great.

The location. on my right hip, just under the bathing suit line. I would actually have to show it to ya for anyone to see it.

It is a yin yang with a sunburst.

Yes. I have a decorated pink heart on my left cheek.

I've had menhdi tatoos in the summer in fun designs on my ankle before. They're fun and go away, but I never was a fan of the permanent one.

So why did I get one? I was 42 when I got my one and only tatoo. I had just divorced my first husband after 20 years of marriage. The relationship turned sour after two really great kids. He was controling, emotionally and mentally abusive. I was on my own after 42 years. I would have liked to say I was independent for the first time, but I wasn't. I had two kids who depended on me, and still do. My parents helped when they could, and my big brother was there for emotional as well as a little financial help, but life was up to me. November of that same year my ex- died. I did grieve for him, after all we did love eachother once, and we have kids together. On the 4th of July in '99, I realized that I was going to survive. My kids were going to be okay. I thought long and hard about it. Life had put lots of marks on my body, but they all reflect pain (except the c-section scar from my son), I decided on a mark that would reflect my hope and my learned faith in myself.

Some are Urkey, but like mine!
