Ooh oooh Oooh. My favorite song is Ave Maria. Although not just a Christmas Song. The soaring melody fills the air and the accompaniment dances. My favorite song to sing is O Holy Night-I sang it for Midnight Mass at home for years.
I have several favorite CD's. Jimmy Buffet's comes to mind. As does the new 'Santa Baby" Collection from Starbucks (I bought it when I was in S. Cal). And the Harry Connick, Jr Christmas album. I have them all shuffled in my cd holder in my car. I love the sounds of Christmas!
Tough question..... I guess White Christmas by Bing.... but that being said, any Bing Crosby Christmas song hits the list. I also love the music from A Charlie Brown Christmas, The Nutcracker Suite and all of Nat King Cole's Christmas albums.
WF: I agree Ava Maria sends chills down my spine when performed correctly. Sadly, too my choir's attempt it and fail miserably.
I like "The Little Drummer Boy" - it always makes me happy & sad at the same time.
Other than that - any Christmas song by Alvin & the Chipmunks (you know - the classics) is great!
THAT ONE PUTS ME IN ????????????????
CAN I THINK ABOUT IT AND GET BACK TO YOU. OR CAN YOU TAKE A POLL OF
ALL THE REPLIES YOU GET AND THEN ADD
ME!!
THE SECOND ONE.......WHAT IS A CD???
CIN;
YOU MUST BE ME DOWN AS ONE OF THE
GOLDEN OLDIES. NO CHIPMUNKS
Ok here is the Holiday Lineup:
1. Sleigh Ride - Ella Fitzgerald and the Frank Devol Orchestra
2. Christmas Song - Nat King Cole - there is no one else that can sing this song better and that is from the composer of this song, Mel Torme.
3. White Christmas - Bing Crosby in the quintessential holiday movie for me, Holiday Inn. Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire with music by Irving Berlin.
Classics every one of them!
I love ALL Christmas songs! "O Holy Night" moves me to tears and is so beautiful. And I agree with the others about "Ave Maria". I'll be hearing these and many others on the 15th at my daughter's Christmas Concert. I WILL be bringing tissues and wearing waterproof mascara!
As far as CD's, SH has one we listen to while decorationg the tree that has various artists singing the classics (Rosemary Clooney, Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, etc.) and some "newer" songs and artists (John Lennon's "So This Is Christmas"; etc. Even "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer Last Night". LOL) Oh, and The Siberian something or other. (My brain is dead this morning!) You can't sing to it but it's lovely to listen to!
Gumdrop, a CD? A Compact Disc. It looks like a vinyl record except it's VERY much smaller, shinier, and not made of vinyl! Other than that, it's pretty much the same! Oh, you can't play it on a turn table either! LOL (I do miss the good old days sometimes though!)
Follow-up: Is there a Christmas song you just can't stand: YES!!!!
I have been listening to our Christmas station here in FTW: They have played Last Christmas by Wham every hour today. YUCK!!!!!
my favorite song is christmas shoes
