To those of you traveling this Holiday ... please have a very safe trip!!

How many times in your life have you been somewhere other than "Home" for Christmas?

I have spent a few Christmases away from home most while in the Navy, one in the country of Panama, one while stationed in Homestead, Florida, and now we will be away from our home in New York City this Christmas.

Growing up, we spent Christmas at the Grandmothers houses. One year at Mom's family and the next at Dad's. When my Mom's grandmother moved in with us, we would still travel to Commerce Tx with Nannie in tow, and stay with my Aunt Bet. I have very very fond memories of those Chritmas celebrations. While we were not 'at home' we were with people we loved. And after all, that is most important.

PEF, that sounds fun. Look for my brother Ron and his wife Norma, they're there going to plays and doing the Radio City Music thing. You'll recognize him...tall, handsome, looks somewhat like me. It should be easy to spot him ;-).

Let's see, as a military brat (sound familiar Bronco?) I've spent Christmas in 3 states and 3 different countries, so our home came with us. I'd say we spend about 6 or 8 Christmases with my extended family in Devine, TX. Most of the others were with my parents and brother and sister. I've celebrated only about 5 or 6 in my own home and about the same amount with my ex-husband's family.

This year I'll travel to my parent's home to spend the holiday with them, my sister, and her kids. Suz will travel with me and Dave will fly in on Sunday. Then we're on the road back to our home and the sales! My wish would be to stay here to have a quiet Christmas with me and the kids, but I don't have many more Christmases with my parents...they're 76 and 73, so I'll live through it to give them the time they need from me. They've done so much for me this year, and my life, I owe them what happiness I can give them. After all, I am a nice girl from their good family!!!

Happy Christmas all

Gee...I must have lived a sheltered life. I've always been "Home" on Christmas morning, as far basck as I can remember anyway! LOL And I echo Cin's sentiment to the traveler's! Be safe!

Merry Christmas!

Many times - when I was in the Army, and in college (my parents lived overseas and I could not get back to them.

I was never not home when I was a kid - no matter where we lived (over 10 states and 3 countries). As Totsie says - we took our home with us.

Home is where the heart is .... and in that sense, I have always been at home for Christmas ...

Until age 26, I was always at my family farmhouse home for Christmas morning ... and we would go to other family member's homes on Christmas Eve and Christmas afternoon.

At 26, I got married and we still tried to go to his HOME or my HOME ... now HOME is here in Texas with Tom and Robbie ... and I have spent a couple of Christamses in Florida with Tom's Family ... as long as Tom and Robbie are around, I am home.

I have been away more times than not, or at least 50/50. Whether I was in Germany, california, Oklahoma, or on vacation due to the vacation-time -off policy of the former company I worked for.
