Fear.
For every few people who honestly need help, there is a wacko who is looking for an easy mark.
So, the moral is: Help everyone who needs it, but carry a big gun or a bigger dog.

Actually .... I do try to do the little things as often as possible ...
I do the same thing Patr does with the shopping carts in parking lots ... AND what Windfairie said about SMILING .... sometimes direct eye contact and a smile really help out ... lets a person know "someone sees me!"
The kindnesses do NOT have to be big or financial ....
Bree must be 4 times as nice as the rest of us.... :) Just teasing
