Question #647

When you are in a social setting where you know very few of the guests, how willing are you to initiate a conversation with a stranger?

Do you prefer to initiate, or do you wait to be approached?

It really depends on my mood. On a good day, I am totally okay with initiating a conversation with a stranger. In fact, probably much to PATR's chagrin, I do this quite often. But if I am not feeling that social, I am more likely to avoid a situation where I would approach someone or where I would allow them to approach me. If I am approached, I am cordial if a bit curt.

I'm always willing to approach people and start a conversation! If someone will listen, I will speak (much to the chagrin of my better half)!! :)

I am SO uncomfortable in social gatherings if I don't know the group. That is I why I let PEF lead and I follow. I don't initiate converstations often, but I keep trying to open up a bit.

I'm my mothers daughter it seems.

I will talk to anyone about anything at any time - and my wife does it even more than me!

I am painfully shy but open up once I get to know someone. I tend to just people watch.

I don't mind talking to people in a social setting. If I am seated next to a stranger, I will chat.

I do prefer to initiate, for some reason ...
