Hmmmmmm .... in this day and age ... things have pretty well evened out, in my opinion. Men have advantages in some cases and women have advantages in others ... there is a balance.
Have I ever wanted to be a guy? Well ... yes .... whenever I go camping ... or boating ... or hiking long hikes .... going to the bathroom in nature is a major pain for women .... grrrrr ....
Otherwise, I'm pretty okay with my gender.
I've got to say that things HAVE evend out legally. On the other hand, I think socially, life has swung in favor of being a woman. While we still earn less than men, we have some advantages, such as more career movement and opportunity. Most employers feel women are more flexable in what they can do and how well they can do it. Today, I'm glad I'm a woman...but that's subject to change tomorrow!
I think being male has its advantages and disadvantages and the same holds true for females. And it doesn't matter which topic you choose (and there are many in our (USA) culture).
Have I ever wanted to be a male? Hmmmmm.....probably when I was younger living under my Father's Italian "old school" rules and saw my younger brothers getting to do things that I wasn't allowed to do simply because I was a "girl" and he felt somehow that made me less capable or less qualified. I would frequently point out that we had a "double standard" in our home and my Dad would say, "Yes, we do." No apologies, no attempts to hide it and quite proud of it! It always infuriated me! But in some odd way, I think I am a stronger person because of it. I constantly had to prove that I was capable and qualified.
And yes, there are those advantages with the bathroom issues! LOL
But all told, I am very happy with my gender as well. And let's face it. We are the stronger gender! If we had to rely on men to give birth, the population would have died off years ago! Just kidding!
I think men have it easier. A man in the same job as a woman is expected to do less and earns more money. In addition it's still the norm that the woman does most of the housework, cooking, etc.
Even though there would be advantages to being a man, I still prefer being a woman.
I don't want to BE a man.
But for sure they have it better in the power/money arena in many ways. From the get go, they are trained that they will earn and they will prosper.
I guess I show my age some but I was taught to find a man....and be a girl. I really dislike having to be both now that it's suppose to be equal.
It is not equal at all in the world I have seen.
Even for the younger ones, I see the women fighting for a foothold trying to be a bread (not carbie) winner and still be Ms housekeeper and mom and cook and laundry lady and wifey. Too much to ask.
A raw deal for sure.
I would not like to be a man for almost the same reason.
The grind. I just hate the grind. I would never want back into it now that I have escaped.
I'm still glad to be a girl.
It was tempting to start this out with "Dear Broads..." just to get everyone riled up, but I haven't the heart.
I think women have come far. In my workplace, which is a national firm, there are many examples of very successful women who do exceptional work. However, while opportunities have abounded, I have to say that they are less likely to be able to slide or coast; they are less recognized when the time comes for promotion or raise or awards, and they are definitely NOT part of the still rampant good ole boys network...which disgusts me. I don't think that things will fully change for another generation or two...until the last good ole boy dies off. Do I want to be a woman? Not really. I wouldn't mind it for a day, because I think that the experience would be very enlightening...just as it would to be a member of any racial minority. I'm interested in how a woman might experience the same day that a man would. Other than that, I'm just fine with who I am.

Yes, women are 52% of the population, and, yes, the "glass cealing" is alive and well, and, yes, there are a few women in positions of power in corporate and governmental worlds. However, my experience in the business world leads me to believe that a woman who is self-determined, educated, aware, and goal oriented can make her way in just about any way she wants. All those barriers serve to be just that for those who allow them. WE make our way. WE determine how those barriers affect our lives. If WE choose to either break those barriers or find a way around them, then we can. If we choose to let the barriers deter us, we have only ourselves to blame.
As a person who has been part of industry/business and education, I see that we only limit ourselves.
Ask any kid...Dad only has to work at work, Mom has to work at home and at work. I still think it is a mans world.
