I am the oldest of 2 brothers.
I'm happy to have been the oldest, though I do wish to have had a sister.
I am the third of four brothers. I sometimes wish I had a sister (and my parents almost adopted one, which they regretted not doing).
I had one beautiful sister 13 months older than me. We were just like twins.
I lost her in 2003 to Lung Cancer from smoking cigarettes all her life.
I do wish I could have had a bunch of brothers and more sisters. I always envy the big happy families.
DH has 6 siblings and they are all very close and happy.
I'm the baby of three. My brother and sister are 4 and 3 years older than me. That makes me kind of like an only child because they did all their things together and left me out.
This is a tough one cuz it takes some explanation. I am the youngest of 6, although the oldest was killed in a tragic car accident 18 mos before I was born. There have always been 5 from my viewpoint. At times I resent the times I missed, the quality years of my parents lives with the bloom of youth. Mom was 40 and dad 44 when I came along.
In the book, We Were the Mulvaneys by Joyce Carol Oates, the narrator opens the book describing herself as the caboose and a lot of the Mulvaney train had pulled out of the station. It hit home like a well aimed arrow. A lot of history had been written by the time I came along. History of which I could never be part. But there is history being written as we speak as well.
At one time I wished to be "Big", mostly a survival instinct. But now I see the blessings of my placement in the line and the joys I received with my parents that others did not.
OOpss....amending the anonymous post above. It posted accidentally without me finishing....

I am the youngest of 4....with 3 older brothers. My full brother is only 15 months older than me and we were very close when we were small....but no more.. alas!.
My 2 oldest brothers have a different father and are 6 and 8 years older than me...I am now only close to the eldest...
My home life was a never-ending drama which sent me skittering over the edge very early in my teens....and I wouldn't repeat it for all the money on earth.
I am the youngest kid in my family. my older sister is 22. i kinda wish that i had more siblings. oh well. its all good.
I had two brothers and I was the oldest (oldest child, not oldest brother). I liked being the oldest most of the time except that I always got the blame no matter who was at fault because "you're the oldest and you know better". It didn't matter if I was involved in the dasterly deed or not. LOL. I would like to have had a sister but I wouldn't have wanted more siblings, I'd just have liked to have turned one of my brothers into a girl.
I'll take you for a sister WF, but alas there is no inheritance involved.
I was the 1st of 4 .... me 1960, Lori 1961, Mike 1962, Dave 1963 .... tough on Mom.
Being the eldest was okay ... I was particularly close to any of my siblings ... closest to Dave who died of Cancer in 1994. Lori live in Australia now and has for the past 22 years. Mike still lives in Rochelle. And I am here in Texas.
Hey Cat! I already think you are one of my sisters!
