April 15, 2009 ....

Do you owe taxes or will you get a return?

Do you plan to attend a TEA Party in your area today or on July 4th?

What do you think about the TEA Parties?

We are getting a wee bit back on our taxes. We plan it that way through the year. Don't want the Gov to have our $$ for free and don't want to pay more at the end.

No, I won't be attending a tea party, but my feelings are pretty much the same as most of those peeps. It bothers me that those of us who are concerned with the huge spending plan of our government are labeled as right wing extremists. I personally know plenty of liberal Democrats who feel the same as I do.

Sent my taxes in months ago. I will not be attending a Tea Party, at least not willingly.

I discovered since I am filling single, that it made little to no difference during the Clinton administration whether I had my company pull taxes at '00' (no exemptions) or '01' - claiming myself. I did the math on how much was removed from my check and it difference was os small that I hardly noticed.

There was a radio commercial years ago on 97.1 FM about a firm that would advise you when to change your exemption status during the tax year so that you got your taxes precisely correct. I haven't heard of any such organization since the radio spots stopped.

Refund.

No, did not attend and don't plan too.

The TEA parties are great, but what I want is a leader. A spokes person to lead us with a plan that will work! A “PLAN” that does not include PORK and special interest items. I'm dreaming....

I remember the Tax Simplification Act of 1987 (I think is the year, I was still in college)..... It was the same year I was taking Tax Accounting and had to drop it because the laws were changing so fast the teacher couldn't keep up. 40+ students in the class and every one of us dropped the class at the same time! But I digress.....

I owed Taxes .... Tom overpaid his .... it balanced out to a return overall ... which is a good thing.

Tom and I did attend the Dallas TEA Party and it was a very moving experience for me. If you are interested in footage, video, speeches, slideshows from the event, let me know.

I think the TEA parties were amazing ... and looking forward to July 4th now. Despite what the mainstream media is saying ... these were truly a grassroots movement ... mainly put into motion by Rick Santelli and his rant on MSNBC or CNBC ... the minute he mentioned TEA parties, I knew that was going to have to be the way to make my feelings known ...

Okay, Pat has spoken to our taxes as for the subject of THE TAXES, my personal opinion is that we should not tax income in this country, ever, period! Whatever you make and earn from whatever "legal" source, you get to keep. No brackets, no special deductions or incentives, no nothing. Its your money, you earned it, keep it.

Pay tax through use or consumption. Whatever you buy whether a good or service, you pay tax on it.

Reduce the size of the IRS and its scope and thus its costs to us the taxpayer.

Tea Parties and other forms of protest are fine if they lead directly to action in Washington but currently there isn't enough momentum to change and there is no incentive for Congress to do it and lose control over the American people.
