Q #5
If a new medicine were developed that would CURE arthritis but would cause a fatal reaction in 1% of those who took it, would you want it released to the public?

Sure - that type of statistic is already true of some medicines, so why will arthritis be any different. The drug company will probably not release it - 'cause of the law suits, but if the potential side effects are made apparent to potential drup users, it is their decision.
For example, I have toenail fungus on a couple of my toes. My doctor gave me the chance to take a medicine that will clear up the fungus, but may cause liver damage or liver failure. I weighed the choice, and decided against using the medicine. Someone with arthritis can makre that same decision - even to the point of signing a release of liability, I suppose
As long as the symptoms, death, is known....and well known... sure. Especially if there are tests and ways to determine if you fit into the 1% category.
I thought that was already accomplished with Celebrex or better known as Cox-3 inhibitors.
YES...I think that with all medicines there will always be a percentage of patients that will have a serious reaction. If a patient is properly informed of the pros and cons of the medicine, then they can make the final decision.
BREE
Take it once and you are cured? OH YAS!
yes but before i took it i would make sure it was ok for me
