I was probably 16 or 17 and my father let me have a beer at home so that I would know what one tasted like and the affect it would have on me before I was introduced to it outside the home.
Hmmmm. That's a hard one.
My parents wanted to be sure we could handle alcohol. Yeah, sometimes I fail their lessons. We had wine with dinner most Sunday dinners. When I was in high school (16) we lived in Germany. Often I went with friends to the local beer garden to have one before going home to homework and chores. When I came back to the US, the legal age in Texas went back to 21. The first drink I had here was at 21.
I had alcohol before my legal drinking age, even a case of alcohol poisoning when I was like 13 or 14, but my first legal drink was with my paternal granmother that passed away. I had my first drink with her and my mom during my lunch break from work (haha) at Joes Crab Shack on my 21st birthday.
I had sips of beer from early ages on ... and sips of Cold Duck ... one of my Mom's fave things ....
Had my first real drink just for me when I was 18 ... which had just become the legal drinking age ... and in college. It was a Sloe Gin Fizz ....
Soon after that I developed a taste for beer!! Then the drinking age got moved to 21 ...
was a freshmen in college, drank too much beer with a boy I was dating..threw up..did not touch a beer until 1988 when I got my divorce and started drinking for real..did not drink raising my girls..their dad drank enough for the both of us..lol
As a child I was given watered down wine with Sunday dinners....
G'parents from Europe. My first legal drink, at 21, was scotch and soda at my parents 25th wedding anny. party....had too much and got very sick! Haven't touched it since---but do enjoy Drambuie. Since then I only drink Vodka and not to excess.
