Because I love language, I also love quotations and love to collect them but there is one quote by Abraham Lincoln that seems as germaine today as it was in 1862.

"The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew, and act anew. We must disenthrall ourselves, and then we shall save our country." Lincoln's Second Annual Message to Congress, December 1, 1862.

My Favorite all time quote is from Desiderata ...

"Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the Universe - no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the Universe is unfolding as it should."

But my favorite quote of the moment is: I'll keep my Money, My Guns, and my Freedom .... You can keep the "Change"!

Of course there is one I am really fond of from the late George Carlin. He was playing with quotations from the old western movies.

"You can do what you want to the girl but leave me alone!"

Oh it changes quite often:

But my e-mail tag line: Never test the depth of the water with both feet.

My old tag line: Count your life by smiles, not tears. Count your age by friends, not years.

But today, I think I like this one: Some people see the cup as half empty. Some people see the cup as half full. I see the cup as too large - George Carlin

New one:

A wise woman will always let her husband have her way.
- Richard Brinsley Sheridan

Now, that is a good one.... :)
