I think the memories that remain after the experiences are over.

Memories last forever and bring back images of my loved ones in such happy times and make me feel so close to them.

When I feel sad I remember all the beautiful things that have happened in my life and then I feel ready to go.

The memories are most important, because they are the only proof to yourself that you actually lived such moments. That's the dreaded reality people with short term memory loss have to face each day.
I'm not sure if you (or anyone else reading this) have seen the movie TOTAL RECALL (quite a while back, Schwartzennegger). The movie starts out explaining the existance of a peculiar "vacation" agency. Only that the customers didn't actually go to the vacations. Instead, they had "memories" of vacations inserted into their minds. Additionally they were subjected to modifications, like getting a sun tan and photos, etc. All this so that their circumstances comply with their memories.
Of course. The movie wasn't just about the agency, but it does illustrate the importance of memories in our daily lives.

I want the experience and the memories. But, of the 2, the memories are the best - even if our imperfect minds often change or color those memories to make them better (or worse) than they really were.

since most experiences are fleeting, i think i have more time to cherish the memory of the moment than the actual event itself. sometimes in the heat of the moment, there's no time to reflect on the sheer accomplishment or even the consequences (positive or negative). however, one cannot have the memory to relive without actually living through the moment!

CIN, YOU SURE KNOW HOW TO STIR UP A
'PANDORA'S BOX' ON MONDAY MORNING.
AFTER THINKING ABOUT THIS FOR A BIT IT OCCURED TO ME I WAS ONLY RECALLING THE UNHAPPY MEMORIES,
DEATHS IN THE FAMILY [TWIN BROTHER
IN 1938] BRAKE FAILURE ON MY CAR AND OVER AN EMBANKMENT 3 YEARS AGO.
NOTHING HAPPY COMES UP. WHAT KIND OF A PROBLEM DO I HAVE......NO EVENT AND NO MEMORY TO BRAG ABOUT.
THE"PQ" SAY: LET ME SHOW YOU SOME
THING THAT WILL ADD TO THE WEIRDITUDE.
