Question #35 from "The Book of Questions" by Gregory Stock, PH.D.
Would you give up half of what you own now for a pill that would permanently change you so that one hour of sleep each day would fully refresh you?
Why or why not?

Heck NO! I like sleeping.
i'm with tom...i get great pleasure out of sleeping...at least, i think i do (how would i know...i'm sleeping????!!!)
NO WAY,NONE, NOT,ETC. AD INFINITUM.
IF I GAVE AWAY 1/2 OF WHAT I HAVE
I'D HAVE TO GIVE UP RETIREMENT AND
GO GET A JOB. WHAT IS TO BE GAINED
BY "FULLY REFRESHED". SOME WOMAN
WITH 8 KIDS MUST HAVE COME UP WITH A QUESTION LIKE THAT. LIKE MY DAD
SAID YEARS AGO........WE NEVER SHOULD HAVE GIVEN THEM THE VOTE.
Yes, I'd make that trade. I don't own much so I wouldn't have to give up much and I like to stay up late and I have to get up in the mornings and it's really hard to do.
Nope.....I like to go to bed and sleep at the end of a bad day and know that TOMORROW is a whole new day!
That's a tough question! Most of you know that I hardly ever sleep even though I would love to! However, my husband turns off the light and is asleep before the room gets dark! So how could I give up half of what I own for a problem that is entirely my own? (We believe that everything we have is "ours", except for a few "special things" given specifically to us or our kids by our parents just before they died).Besides, my sleeping habits COULD CHANGE ON THEIR OWN, ONE DAY! Always remaining Hopeful!
I sure would.
I'm not too fond of sleeping. I do it when I'm already too drowsy to remember breathing. I want days to last longer and longer...
Does someone know that, on average, a 90 year old person will have spent 30 of his years sleeping?
