Q #38
If you went to a dinner party and were offered a dish you had never tried before, would you want to taste it even if it sounded strange and not very appealing?

Sure, I will try anything once! (well, sort of)
Yes, I'd try a piece of it at least once if it is a cooked dish. I'm wary of uncooked food, such as uncooked Sushi and 'Roh' or the raw fish eggs. Quickest way to get Hepatitus.
My mother taught me that I should try whatever I am presented as a guest. Just because I try it, does not mean I have to eat all of it.
I would try it within reason. I'm not going to eat bugs(snails are the exception)...
I'd probably try it ... but I am with Hughy ... no uncooked meats, thank you!!
I'll try anything once. It would only be polite.
Ditto to Marsha! That's exactly what my mother always said.
FYI - Sushi is cooked, it is Sashimi that is not. I will eat both of those and I will eat raw oysters, clams etc. I also love Ceviche which is not cooked but the acid in the lime or lemon juice poaches the fish or seafood. YUM!
My exception - steak tartare at least on the raw theme.
As for bugs, there are only two kinds I will eat, lobster and his smaller cousin the crawdad.
Of course I'd give it a try. Now I'd be torn if it were something raw or I had a fear I'd gag It would probably be the best to decline.
Now if it were an environment where everyone knew I was trying something new and I might have some adverse reaction then I would probably go for it. All in good fun type of thing.
No, I'm a chicken.
If it wasn't appealing? Don't think so. I'm not that adventurous. I think food should please all the senses.(Does that make me a snob? LOL)Look, I've basically been on a "diet" since birth, so why waste precious time and calories eating a food that is strange, not appealing and I may not like. I'd take a risk on something that WAS appealing....within reason! LOL
Yes, I would at least have a taste, perhaps hoping the host and hostess would refrain from telling their guests what it is! hehe
Also hope these aren't really good friends---hate to think what mystery dish they would serve at next dinner party!
If you really think about it what Host/Hostess would even consider doing this to their guests/friends??
