When I was in first grade, we lived in Leavenworth Kansas and we had a tornado go right over our house. I mostly remember the noise.

In early May of my junior year in college (University of Colorado at Boulder), we had a 3 day blizzard that dumped almost 40 inches of snow on the town. It was great!

When I was a kid in Northern Illinois, we had a tornado near our house .... Mom took us all to the basement where we hid behind a couch against a wall .... meanwhile a couch on the ground floor got sucked through the living room window ... that's all I remember and that is vague ...

We also had one winter where TONS of snow fell to the point where we were actually sbnowbound for 2 whole weeks!! There was 6' of snow on our country roads and the plows couldn't do anything about it. We managed to keep electricity and locals snowmobiled us food and supplies ... that was January 1979, I believe .... that was pretty amazing!!

I spent 10 years in snow blizzard country in Saskatchewan, Canada.
I hated driving after a storm on a Sunday night as the snow plows didn't go out and the roads would often have black ice under the fresh snow....scary stuff.
We had a tornado one summer whilst we lived there and we lost every piece of furniture around our pool and yard. Our formerly dark brown house was stripped of all its color by the hail and it was frankly terrifying.
Now I'm in California where the threat of earthquakes is very real.
Having lived through a couple of biggies which fortunately were not centered near my house, I really don't want to get any more familiar with them than I already am...

NOPE, NONE OF THAT STUFF. CLOSEST
I CAME WAS SEEING WHAT WAS LEFT
OF THE 'OLD WALLED CITY' IN MANILA.
AFTER THE JAPS FINALLY CALLED IT
QUITS. SAW THE BOTTOM HALF OF A
JAP THAT HAD BEEN BLOWN IN TWO.
EASTERN IOWA WAS A NICE PLACE---
BIG WIND WENT THRU 4 MILES SOUTH
AND BLEW THE ROOF 1/2 OFF A BIG BARN ONE TIME. COURSE THE LUMBER
YARD IN TOWN BURNED TO THE GROUND
ONE TIME. THAT WAS THE BIGGEST FIRE WE EVER HAD.

A small earthquake that I apparently slept through when I was in H.S. (Imagine that!LOL) A few blizzards, a few hurricanes and even a close call with a twister. Lot's of damage to the right and left and even a few fatalities, I'm very sad to say. And the town next to us has had severe flooding on occassion.

I went through Betsy and Camille as a kid, and several smaller hurracaines. I drove home with a tornado chsing me about 4 years ago and the first year we lived in Michigan, we got 21 inches of snow in 24 hours with the winds to go with it. I gues I've done a lot of them but I think those kind of things happen where ever you live so I don't worry about it.
