Since when has Pizza become unhealthy? They now have whole wheat crusts ... tomato sauce has all kinds of good stuff in it ... pizza has cheese and veggies ... in fact, it can be a balanced meal in itself.

I say anything that encourages a child to read is a good thing!!

But then ... reading can lead to obesity!! I mean, just sitting there reading instead of going outside and running around!!

Heck!! Education can lead to obesity!!

I think we should ban reading AND education, unless it is Physical Education (aka PE) .... and everyone should exercise 24/7 ... and walk or run wherever they go and all cars should be banned ... and bikes .... and horses ...

Cin, you are right! Pizza can be a very balance meal and, if eaten in MODERATION, can be a part of a healthy diet.

I am so sick of this attitude of not praising or rewarding our children when they do something good because it may 'make them fat' or 'may make the others feel 'bad' about themselves' or that it will 'set' them apart from others.

Just another example of busybodies inserting themselves where they don't belong - in other people's lives.

Let's legislate everything - only the government knows how we should live, how we should spend our money, and how we should raise our kids. The government hires the "experts" who then decide everything for everyone. Ahh, just what I want - a carefree life with of other's deciding for me.

Reminds me of the "town hall meeting" during one of Bill Clinton's campaigns, where some idiot stood up and asked how Slick Willy's administration will take csre of him and his family, and Slick answered in all seriousness.

I wantedto climb through the TV and shake that idiot who asked the question!! No one - not the TV talking heads, not the newspaper pundits the next day - nobody - mentioned that maybe that guy would be better off taking care of himself and his family by himself.

I propose a ban on "experts" and other nosy jerks who want to decide everything for me, and if I don't listen, try to get the government to make a law forcong me to toe the line. In fact, let's put a bounty on these "experts", and we get to shoot them on sight. Yeah!!, that's the ticket!

Frankly, I have adopted a new attitude on all of this type of stuff and it is, "I don't care what the government or any other regulating body does as long as they do it to the other guy or gal". Because its always them "OTHER" people that are the problem. In fact if it weren't for those "other" people, we wouldn't have any problems at all.

Both of my kids participated in this program when they were in Elementary School. Our school then tied it in to the STAR Program (Students Taking Accelerated Reading) which was computer based. If you live on a diet of fast food and pizza and soda and inactivity, obesity will be a problem. Moderation is the key (and by the way, Pizza Hut also has a Salad Bar!)

Cin...I'm starting to think that any subject that has the word "Education" behind it does not belong in the classroom (i.e., Sex Education, Self Esteem Education, MultiCultural Education, etc.) You don't see the "basics" have that word behind them (History, Reading, Writing, Math, Geography, Science, etc.)And with all the "extra education" classes, there is hardly time to fit in the "basics"! And when I went to Elementary School, it was called "Gym". LOL
