I usually say what I think. And quite often it is exactly what everyone else WANTED to say, but were afraid to say ...

I've always been this way ...

I usually try to think of the effect of my words on others before I speak, but I am not always successful. And, it seems the closer I am to the person, the less likely I am to self-censure

I SAY WHAT I KNOW, WHY SHOULD I
SOFT SOAP THEIR VANITY.

Usually what I really think. But there have been times when the person (i.e. my grandmother was really sick and on her deathbed)that I just told her what she wanted to hear as it did no harm otherwise and made her happy.

Like Bronco, the closer I am to the person (or the more passionate I am on the subject) the less candy coating I'm going to be.

But in certain situations, like talking to company executives, I do my best to be eloquent and still give my opinion with explanation and disclaimers.

I believe that people know that I say what I think. I also choose whether or not to voice my opinion in some circumstances due to the audience.
If however I am asked my opinion, I will comment.
