There are too many rabbits in the area to plant bulbs....the would be eaten before they bloom (we tried while I was in elementary school, we had very FAT HUGE bunnies that easter!)
We usually plant a tree or shrubs in the spring. This year, 5 bradford pears.
Cleaning rigutals? I pay the neighborhood boys to pull weeds. Does that count?
I don't have a regular spring planting routine, but I always try to plant something and see if it can survive my black thumb! This spring, we are putting in a patio in the backyard. It's been desolate for so long and it's time to enjoy the big space we have! Once that's done, we'll worry about flowers, etc. Doubtful that we'll do bulbs....it's easier for me to plant already-growing flowers. At least they are pretty for a while until I kill them. :)
Here is the list for every year:
1. Clear out the mulch in the flower beds.
2. Weed the flower beds
3. Decide on spring flowers to plant(not bulbs as my lovely wife noted).
4. Plant spring flowers
5. Mulch the flower beds
6. Mulch trees and shrubs
7. Attack weeds in the yard
8. Let grass grow to a ridiculous height before the first cutting.
9. Execute the first grass cutting
10. Trim and repeat, though not nearly as many of you guys will since you did not select Buffalo Grass (609 variety) for your lawn. I mow about 5-6 per year. :-)
Tasks for this year:
1. Rent Baby Backhoe to dig holes for the 5 new (20 gal.) Bradford Pear trees. They were $39.95 each at Home Depot but the backhoe rental will be about $150.00 for the day, so I am already saving money!
2. Plant trees
3. Mulch trees
4. Water trees
5. DRINK BEER!
Well after Noah's Flood on Tuesday I do have some outdoor spring cleaning to take care of. And Yes, I do Spring cleaning indoors as well. Also I start to get my golf swing back in shape so I can bust a ball on the course. Grip it and rip it is my motto just like John Daly.
Spring has Sprung here too! We have a variety of bulbs and blooming trees all blooming in all their glory! Having staggered our bulb planting helps...we have them well into summer. We'll be going to the Nursery next week for our annuals. This is what DH wants for his B'day which is next week...so guess that would be our yearly ritual!
As for Cleaning Ritual...none. I do dig out my shorts, tops and sandals. Oh, we use our BBQ almost every evening.

I wish I had a certain "day" or week that I did my whole house spring cleaning. I usually expend those forces on other people's homes while I have babysitters! LOL. Spring fever does hit, though, and I recognize piles I need to sort and destroy.
