Question #669

What kind of flooring/floor coverings do you have in your house? Do you like it? What would you like to do differently?

My intire down stairs is tile. Its cold and I don't like it but it is easy to care for. The stairs and bedrooms are carpet. I would like new carpet but Cin says NO not with a new puppy in the house. I know she is right. The bathrooms are also tile. I would not have carpet in a bathroom.

I would get new carpet any way. But I have to have the house painted.

Let's see Den has hardwood floor with area rug, bedrooms, livingroom, diningroom and hall all are carpeted. Master bath is hardwood floor, hall carpeted. Our front/guest bath was totally done over a couple of years ago, floor is handctafted tile--my kids refer to ot as "the Royal Bath". Last and soon to be gutted is our kitchen/laundry room---not totally committed to color or theme..YET.

Cin excellent advice to lanette. Waited unti she was totally trained before re-decorating!

We have the carpet which was new when we bought the house in 2001 ... but probably wasn't the best grade carpet around. It has seen several distressed/young/old/angry pets ... and a few parties ... along with normal traffic in a home ... and it needs to go!!

I am thinking I would like Hardwood floors covered with Asian Carpets ... maybe even hardwood in the kitchen ... someday ...

Carpet & vinyl -> we did upgrade the carpet and pad when we built - but it is starting to look worn and dirty after 5 years (2 puppies and a senior citizen has done their share of staining). The kitchen, bath and entry are all Armstron vinyl....We upgraded it too and it has some bubbles, seams coming apart and nicks.

I would love to go pergo or all wood in all rooms but bathroom and bedroom. Vinyl in the bathroom makes more sense and I love carpet in the bedrooms.

I have a single level house. It is carpeted all the way through, except for the kitchen and bathrooms. Bathrooms ar tile or linoleum. The carpet is good 20 year stuff. If I had it to do over again I would go with hard woods. The carpet needs stretching.

I hate my flooring (except for the tiled entryway, hall and guest bath). We have carpet in most areas with linoleum in the kitchen/breakfast nook. We need all tile or wood floors (we have 8 animals and 3 kids!!!). It's SOOOO hard to keep carpet clean and linoleum is just a waste of money (in my opinion). Hopefully this year we will be able to re-do all of the floors.

I have carpet in about 80% of the house, tile in about 15%, and laminate in 5%. I just want to replace the carpet with something nicer...clean! I don't think the house could take hardwoods.
