My favorite musical is probably Lerner & Lowe's My Fair Lady, from the George Bernard Shaw play, Pygmalian. I very nearly got to see Rex Harrison performing in My Fair Lady before he passed, which was unfortunate that I did not. I was able to see Yul Brynner in the King & I live at the Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco with a combined show cast and local cast for $25.00.

My very favorite is Wicked. It's by far the best I've seen. I love live theatre, so I love just about everything, but this one far exceeds anything I've seen before. I have the cd and know most of the words to the songs as well as several lines from the show. Hailie has the book and I'm trying to make the time to read it too!
By the way, I went to high school with Kristin Chenoweth, the original Galinda in the Broadway production (and now a film and tv actress). She's fantastic!

Way long time ago my favorite was South Pacific. Now I have to agree with Pammy...Wicked. Haven't seen it, but I will!

I have not been to a musical since I was a kid. That was Oklahoma. I loved it.

Hugh, thanks for the bulk mail suggestion.

Oh, there are SO many to choose from. Movie: Singing in the Rain is my all time favorite. I was watching it the night my grandmother passed away. She loved it too, so I think it as a little message she was sending to me in her final hours. And yes, I know most of the words to the songs.

Phantom of the Opera is my favorite soundtrack from a musical. The play was just 'okay', but the orig. soundtrack is GREAT. (School days, Schools Days - see Forget Paris if you don't know this reference)

Live: My Fair Lady with Ruta Lee and Rex Harrison at Casa was good, but I think The Unsinkable Molly Brown was better. I had season ticket to all the summer musicals at Casa in 1996, so I got to see several that year. The Who's Tommy was 'interesting'....

The last musical we saw was Spam-A-Lot in Vegas. I loved it!

If you can't tell, I love musicals!
