Fort Worth, Texas - We've had the typical Texas winter - Cold, Very Cold, Warm, Ice, Rain, Cold again, Warm, Light Dusting of Snow, Warm again etc......

In short it sucks, I miss real winters.

I think this has been the coldest winter that I can remember here in the Dallas-Ft. Worth Area. At least the coldest since moving into this house.

We have actually had 3 snow/ice experiences. The comforter has been on the bed for most of the winter so far, and that is VERY unusual.

In Irving, TX the weather has been warm to a bit chilly to cold, to very cold. My little hiney is not liking this. I've lived with wet and cold, snow and cold, and just plain cold in my life, but I live in Texas so I don't have to have damn cold, but that's what we have!

Grrrrrr

Here locally is a Meteorologist named Kritina Kahanek, or her name is spelled somewhat close to that. Stats show she is the most accurate Weather person in Dallas.

She reported on Feb 1, that Dallas/FT. Worth experienced the 2nd wettest and 4th coldest January in recorded Weather History. Beleive me when I say we needed the water/rain. Could have done without the ice though!

After Christmas to past New Years, it frooze solid out where Bronco and CinCin live, yet to the east about 40 miles where I live, the roads were fine and it only rained. The freeze line cut directly across Dallas/FT Worth from Northeast to Southwest. On Jan 17th we had sleet which hardened into ice but was gone by 10am, but got a 'school day' anyway, much like Feb 23rd, 2003. So Bronco and CinCiN have had it worse than I.

Yesterday (Superbowl Sunday) was a cobalt blue sky almost 60 F day, while my friend in New Jersey said it was 20 F at the warmest. The stars were beautiful last night after the superbowl.

As some of you have pointed out this is the most unusual January weather. I recall Jan 96/97 when on Jan 1 or 2 it was very cold, and then on Jan 3 it was 60 F and I was swiming in someone elses swiming pool with the water at a nice 70 F plus water temp.

Texas is the battle ground in Janaury/February between the warm moist gulf winds and the dry/cold northern winds. Oklahoma has gotten it worse than we have, so we should consider ourselves lucky!

And thats my two degress! Da Bears!

TOtsie is FUH-KNEE

cold sucks here in Lewisville TX but it's not as bad as when I lived in Missouri and the cold went all the way to your bones, and then you slip on the ice and break the frozen bones. When I was a kid we lived in Colorado and the front yard would be covered in snow and it would be 65 degrees outside and us kiddos would be in shorts with snowboots on. That was fun.

In Haslet (home) or Ft Worth (work): Winter weather has been a rollercoaster as PEF said. I loved the snow last Thursday & Friday however. We had quit a bit at home.

But if you’re asking about how winter has been in general, I have to say it has been a rollercoaster too. Work is frustrating, health has been bad and too many sad things have happened to people I care about. But on the flip side, PEF & I have made some good financial decisions together. I'm blessed by having so many people to care about and my health is improving each day we get closer to spring.

Compared to other years, 2006/2007 winter has not been a record setter which is exactly how I like it…. .smooth and uneventful.

Hey Gumdrop ... it really has been cold here in Texas ... the 4th coldest January in History ...

Lows in the 20's .... highs in the 40's ... that is cold for the Dallas/Ft.Worth area ...

I know it doesn't sound cold to you ... and Tom and I have both experienced colder winters ... but for Texas, this has been very unusual.

We do keep the bedroom window open and lately the bedroom has been a wonderful 46-49 degrees ...
