Q #41
Your house, containing everything you own, catches fire; after saving your loved ones and pets, you have time to safely make a final dash to save any ONE item. What would it be?
Just things I wonder about ... and some people are nice enough to answer. You are welcome to answer, too ... just click on "Comments" and off you go! Original art work...and I know this is 2...my external hard drive.
Ok, this is a horrid scary thing for real. I would hope to have a bag inside the closet with Cole/Mahna's pictures and my video camera bag w/ all the tapes in it. I know that is cheating. But maybe I will compile such a bag for just such an event.
Hmmmmm .... okay ... my first thought was MY LAPTOP!!!
I so want to cheat on this question!!
Okay ... I have a "thumb-drive" device ... a little flash-drive which contains all the back-up for my laptop ... all My Pictures, all My Music, all my writings ... and it is sitting in a fire-proof box along with lots of important papers ... so maybe I would leave the lap-top as long as the "thumb-drive" is safe and let insurance buy me a NEW lap-top.
I think I would grab the keys to the car (which are attached to my purse) and hop in the car and back it out of the garage ... because the garage is attached to the house and the car would burn, too.
I would grab my briefcase - it has my business laptop and data backups - that is my liviehood, so I need it. That would be under one arm, and the painting my mother got from her mom would be under the other (the most expensive itemwe own, I think.)
Hmm - I don't know. Interesting question.
I would grab the dresser in the front bedroom. It contains all of our photographs. (alas, it is too heavy for me to take , but that was not one of the restrictions of the question).... However, I guess were you put that restricion on there, I would get our wedding album. I have the prints and the negatives all in the same box.
Only one thing - Photographs/Negatives
Cant replace them.
Wow. This question caused me to think harder than I am use to on a Friday afternoon.
Honestly, if Doug, Ash, 3 cats and 2 dogs were okay there is nothing in the house I could not live without.
I do own a few irreplacable items and would miss them but I could live with out them. I have never had much attachment to objects and the fire would not destroy my memories.
I would have to go back in and get my daughter's teddy bear, Valentine. She has had it since she was 6 and is now a teenager and will not sleep without it.
With my kids and kitties, my life can be complete. I've been in the position to loose all my material posessions. I still miss somethings. Nothing replaces my kids and my kitties. All the rest is dross
