Q #45
Someone very dear to you is in pain, paralyzed, and will die within a month. He begs you to give him poison so that he can die. Would you?

Man, what a tough question!
I probably would do it, but it would require some serious soul searching.
I DO NOT want to be in that situation.
In pain and paralyzed?? I would bring in Hospice and make sure that he had access to the BEST pain medications available!! And Hospice does have them!!
I would play beautiful music or music I know he likes ... I would have movies I know he enoyed on the TV ... books on tape playing ... friends and family around to drink and laugh and talk with him, or near him ...
I would do my best to make the last month be as pain free and enjoyable as possible for him.
I don't think I could. I'm with CIN.... I would do everthing possible to make the last month as comfortable as possible.
Now, were the question phrased as that of Terri Schiavo's family, I think my answer would be yes...
Ditto to PATR and CIN - If I were going to do it, I would pick a way to end it for him or her that was quicker than poison.
