Here is our list (my wife & I):
1) Get Robbie through college successfully and started on his adult life. We have planned properly financially for this and should be OK.
2) Put away enough money to live comfortably in our dotage. Both Cindy & I are working on this with our current careers - things are looking up.
3) Determine where we want to spend our retirement - so far we have little to no idea.
4) Build the home of our dreams - an energy-independent home designed the way we want it. I have the plans in my head (and a little on paper), so all we need now is to get the money and decide on the place.
5) Buy a house boat (or other vessel to be determined), and cruise the intracoastal waterway and potentially the Great Loop (the waterways and rivers of the eastern US). We will be taking vacations (short & long) on house boats to see how we like this type of life before we actually do it, and we will be able to afford it with a little judicious saving and proper planning.
So, there you have it - our lives planned out for ther foreseeable future. Now all we have to do is DO IT.
Do you have any specific long-term goals? Yes.
What is one and how do you plan to reach it? Be healthier. By
exercise, better nutrition and emotionally reaching a better place. I
think this one goal will help me achieve my other goal long term goals
also. (To RULE the world!!!)
Patr
Rant Master & Cin - I wish you god's speed in your endeavours. I cannot think of two people who deserve it more.
My long term goals are:
1) To work on getting healthier physically by losing weight and getting off my maintenance meds - this will be accomplished through more exercise and better eating habits. Already working on this.
2) To build savings and wealth towards retirement. Doing this through my work and reduction of debt.
3) Build the model railroad of my dreams which is the San Francisco Belt Railroad in HO Scale. I hope to begin this through the construction of an out building within the next two years.
4) Create the Model Railroad History Museum someplace where I want to retire, probably Maine. This will be a huge facility where amazing model railroads from all over the country and potentially the world can be cut-up, boxed and transported to museum. Once on premises they will be reassembled, repaired and put into working order and open for the public.
5)Retire to a nice place on the coast of Maine with a sailboat where I can enjoy my golden years with my lovely wife (Ruler of the World).
1) Ash starts High School in 1 week so main goal for the next 4 years is to be there while she grows and learns.
2) Brett heads to Austin for school tomorrow. Goal would be to be able to handle the adjustment as he enters the grown up world.
3) Doug really wants to become more active and I found an extreme adventure organization that works with USA Fit so I am hoping he will spend the next few years enjoying that and see where it takes him.
4) For me... that is tough. The past 4 years my life has been ruled by my illness so I would say my life long goal would be to learn how to live without my illness dictating how I live. I have started the steps to that the last 10 days. In January I sign up at Luke's Locker too train to walk a 1/2 marathon.
I would also like to go back to school. Maybe become a college professor or counselor. I would love to teach Outward bound classes.
Mainly I want to spend the rest of my life with the people I love, watching the kids grow and starting a program that helps stop childhood obesity.
I would also like to see the whales in Alaska, the Grand Canyon and go to Athens, Ireland and walk from Hostel to Hostel in Switzerland. We are orking on the 1st two and when our butts can fit in an airplane seat watch out world !!!!
We are living our long term goals NOW!
1-got our children through college
2-Both took early retirement
3-Been traveling and crossing off
list, plus visiting some bonus places. DH enjoying scuba diving in exotic places.
4-Bought our long wished for condo in MAUI.
Life is Good...we are Blessed

May each of you realize your Goals
1)I wish someday to be married to someone whom I love and they love me in turn. How anybody does that is anybodys guess!
2) Exercise more - get in great shape and stay there.
3)Save enough money for retirement.
4) Figure out what I'll do in retirement and if a Wife will be involved.
5) Using the gifts that I possess help people by being a positive influence in their lives. Continue personal growth and enlightenment
6) Die peacefully.
1)Get both kids through college
2)Help my son realize his Olympic Dream by helping him financially
3)Continue to help my husband with his (our) buisness and make it the most successful one around
4)Make all the up-grades to our house that we've been putting off for so long
5)Pay off our Mortgage and become debt-free and have enough money put away to be comfortable in our retirement and so we can travel!
6)This is not a long-term goal but one I'm currently working on: to get healthy and fit and lose weight so I can see and be a part of those Long-Term Goals!
7)One Day, in the future, WAY OFF in the future, I'd like to see both kids HAPPILY MARRIED,financially confortable, happy in their professions and working on making me a Grandmother. But as I said, the Marrying and Having Children....years from now! LOL (I know this is kind of cheating as this should not be MY Goal but my children's Goals....but hey, it's a "Goal I'd to SEE" realized by them! LOL)
Good Luck to everyone here in acheiving their Goals!
Bree,Congrats on living them now Sweetie! Life is Good! God is Awesome and You are Blessed!
