WHY ARE WE HERE?
Help me answer him ... what's your opinion?

To love each other and glorify God.
My answer - we are here at the wish of a higher power - call it God, a cosmic oneness, whatever (I am not sure, but willing to learn). This higher power gave us this planet, solar system, galaxy & universe to live in, and gave us free will to make of it what we will. Collectively, we can make or break our existence - keep fighting and killing each other until we are all dead or going backwards towards chaos and the breakdown of all civilized conventions, or we can get beyond our baser instincts and make our existence something to enjoy and cherish. Most of us do live our lives as best we can - given the constraints of the world around us. Collectively, we have a lot to learn.
I tend to believe that the "intelligent design" under which this universe exists allows us to learn and grow - scientifically and spiritually (the more we learn, the more science and religion will intertwine, with the differences becoming meaningless over time).
It really is a cosmic experiment, so enjoy your time in the test tube.

to BE all things human...
to pursue a higher state of enlightenment...

I have been trying to figure this one out for many many many years and I still have no clue.
There are too many answers in my mind.
Each person has there own purpose in being here. If we were not meant to be here we wouldn't be.

My quess .... we are here because we chose to be here. We were hanging around heaven with God, lazing about, watching things happen in the Universe, and at some point each of us looked at Earth and saw something happening and decided to go experience that something, or fix that something, or e(a)ffect that something. Each of us has a reason for being here, and we CHOSE that reason and asked God if we could go on this mission ... and (S)he must have approved it because we are here. The catch is that we aren't allowed to remember exactly what it was we chose to do.
So ... we need to learn to follow our intuitions and best intentions ... there is a reason for our being here.
To figure out our purpose by doing the best we can, serving others and no our own selfish temptations, to overcome obstacles and move forward and help others see things when they are not able...
God bless Robbie!!! Teenagehood...eek... how lucky to have a mom like you to help him through and that he can talk to about anything.
