The printing press - how cool to see the printed word come out of a machine.

Wine fairie - get a grip (as in grip it and rip it)

Photography! Why? Along with Bronco's printing press, it has changed the way we gather and interpret information. But through photography, we have also created visual documentation of history, although it can be jaded from the eyes of the person holding the camera...

Of course, MS DOS. I know it is old now, but that's what made Bill Gates. It's not that I want to be that rich by myself, but rich enough to help my relatives, friends and live comfortably for the rest of my life.

Steam Locomotive or Railroad - it was the engine (pun intended) of the industrial revolution and it transformed the U.S. into a world economic power. Without it, the fruits of the Louisianna Purchase and westward expansion would likely have not happened or been piecemeal at best. It changed the American diet with the invention of the Ice Refrigerated Car or Reefer, no longer were Americans dependent on only local seasonally grown food. It ended the Cattle Drive, because dressed beef could be transported anywhere. It helped create the mobile workforce, ensured settlement of the west by transporting immigrants from eastern ports. The concept of Time Zones, invented by the railroads 1883 to schedule trains and reduce collisions, the U.S. Government did not adopt them for 35 more years.
