Question #223

From: The KIDS' Book of Questions by Gregory Stock PH.D.

Are you afraid to ask questions when you don't understand something? For example, do you sometimes fake a laugh when you don't understand a joke?

While I might be apprehensive about asking a question when I don't understand something, that has never stopped me from asking the question. My mantra is, "If I want to know, I'm going to ask".

In the case of joke, I am most likely to say, "I don't get it" or "What was that?"

As a person who understands little, often, I have learned that not asking is the most stupid. I have to ask questions--even of the most basic.

ABSOLUTLY NO WAY AM I AFRAID TO ASK.TAKE THE RECENT "PIXXA" INCIDENT. I ASKED, CIN ANSWERED, FOR
BOTH WINEFAIRIE AND I. AND A DAY
LATER RH SAYS "I'M A RIOT", WE FINALLY LEARNED WHO THE MISCREANT
WAS. AS FOR JOKES----IF I DON'T GET IT AND SAY SO THREE OTHER PEOPLE WILL PROCEED TO GIVE ME CONFLICTING VERSIONS OF WHAT THE JOKE WAS ABOUT. THEN EVERY ONE
TURNS TO THE 'JOKE TELLEE'. BEDLAM
ENSUES!!!!!!
ANYTHING HAPPENING ON THE "HORSERADISH IN THE GRAVY??????

I always ask - if you don't ask, either the person directly or do some research (another way to ask), you will never know.

The day I stop wanting to know is the day I die.

I always get the joke - I usually am the joke.

"Horseradish in the gravy"??? I don't get it.

Yes....For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. Matthew 7:8

Okay, please, no one take offence, but this simple statment is so true!

As for jokes, it is very rarley that I don't get it, but on the rare occasion, I do ask them to repeat slowly and make sure it is not a 5'9" joke. (If you don't get that, please ask PEF)

In class i don't like to ask questions. Most of the time someone else asks my question anyways.
